Coming Together: In-Person Gatherings Build the Trust Behind the Work

We gather three+ times per year to welcome new partners, check in with each other, and explore novel solutions.

Overview

Relationships are core to the 2-3-2 Partnership. We know that time together creates deeper understanding, promotes honest dialogue, and ignites creative solutions. Each year, the 2-3-2 Partnership gathers three times as a collective whole. Each month, the Executive Committee meets to stay aligned. Each day, 2-3-2 Partners meet over coffee, in forested watersheds, and in local gathering spaces to bring community collaboration to reality.

Our annual meetings are important celebrations and reflections of the work across six million acres, across 100+ organizations, across state lines, the continental divide, and fencelines. They are welcome to anyone. Places where your name is more important than your job title. We meet in person so that you know who is on the other end of the phone when you call them. We meet in person so that place-based community groups, federal agencies, state agencies, tribes, landowners, water users, producers, forest workers, researchers, funders, and anyone else can connect beyond their silos. For we know, that (Re)Connecting Forests, Waters, and People across northern New Mexico and southern Colorado takes all of us.

While annual gatherings bring Partners together, the magic of the 2-3-2 is in each partner's follow-through. It is in partners connecting outside of formal meeting spaces to brainstorm, design, and make projects happen.

Triennial Meetings and Field Tours

The 2-3-2 landscape is expansive and varied. To strengthen our shared understanding of the landscape's forests, waterways, people, and places, we move our triennial full partnership meetings and field tours around northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. At these meetings, we celebrate each other's work toward 2-3-2 goals, navigate shared challenges, and tour local projects, mills, and community stories.

Legislative Tour

The 2-3-2 Partnership appreciates the bipartisan support of local, county, state, federal, and tribal governments. Legislators play a significant role in creating policies, laws, and funding that promote forest and watershed health. Legislators are always welcome at 2-3-2 events and our focused legislative tours highlight why we do this work and what policies and funding support our success.

Rio Chama Congreso

The Rio Chama Congreso is an annual event hosted by the San Juan-Chama Watershed Partnership. Typically held at Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu, New Mexico, each year brings partners from across the Rio Chama Watershed who gather to present and discuss pertinent watershed issues. The San Juan-Chama Watershed Partnership was instrumental in founding the 2-3-2 Partnership, and their leadership continues through the conversations and momentum of the Rio Chama Congreso.
